Andrey Zhilikhovsky

Born in Moldova, Andrey Zhilikhovsky completed his studies in choral conducting at the Stefan Nyaga Musical College in Chișinău in 2006. Whilst at college he also studied the voice and upon graduation was granted a place at the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in St Petersburg.

In 2010-12 Andrey was a soloist of the Mikhailovsky Theatre St. Petersburg. He made his debut with the Latvian National Opera as Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia), in 2011. 

In 2011-2012 he joined the Young Artist Opera Programme of the Bolshoi Theatre. In 2013 he debuted as Marcello (La Bohème).

In 2014-2019 Andrey Zhilikhovsky was a soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre Opera Company, where he continues as a guest soloist.

Performed on some of the most prestige opera stages and festivals in the world, like Bayerische Staatsoper in München, Staatsoper Berlin and Komische Oper Berlin, Opéra National de Paris, Metropolitan Opera, Washington National Opera, Teatro dell’ Opera Roma, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Glyndebourne Festival and Aix-en-Provence Festival, Pfingstfestspiele in Baden-Baden to name but a few.

Throughout his career, Andrey Zhilikhovsky has worked with many important conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Rafael Payare, Mikhail Tatarnikov, Anton Grishanin, Vassily Petrenko, Giacomo Sagripanti, and Alain Altinoglu, along with many notable directors including Graham Vick, Claus Guth, Andrej Zhagars, Arno Bernard, Aik Karapetian. Andrey collaborates frequently with director Dmitri Tcherniakov.
