Maria Utrobina

Graduated with distinction from the Moscow Art Theatre School, the faculty of scenography, course of Oleg Sheintsis.

Since 2012 has worked as theatre and costume designer in major theatres in Russia and Europe. Has designed over fifty productions of various types and genres. Collaborates with such directors as Mikhail Ugarov, Sergei Zhenovach, Adolf Shapiro, Ruzanna Movsesyan, Alexei Dubrovsky and many others. The performances, that Maria Utrobina worked on, were awarded the highest theatre awards, and participated in Russian and international festivals multiple times.

She works extensively and fruitfully in film. As a production designer she has created more than thirty different films, including Brothers Ch. by Mikhail Ugarov, Polyot by Pyotr Todorovsky, Reach out to Mom by Olga Tomenko and others. Many films received international awards.

Maria Utrobina is a participant in numerous Russian and international exhibitions, festivals, master classes and charity programmes.

Since 2006 has taught at the Moscow Art Theatre School, among her students there are many actively working young production designers from Russia. Since 2019 has been Head of the Department of Technology of Artistic Design of Performances at the Moscow Art Theatre School.
