Rocha
Edgardo Rocha was born in Rivera, Uruguay, where he graduated in piano, studied choral-orchestral conducting at the University of the Republic and began his voice preparation with Beatriz Pazos and Raquel Pierotti. He moved 2008 to Italy, where he studied with the prestigious tenor Salvatore Fisichella and attended the Rossini-Master Classes of the tenor Rockwell Blake and of the baritone Alessandro Corbelli.
He debuted as Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia by Rossini) in Cesena, Italy. Due to the obtained success at the Festival della Valle d’Itria Martina Franca (2010) as Donizetti’s Gianni di Parigi, he began his career in Italy and abroad.
He sang at the Teatro Lirico Cagliari, Circuito Lirico Lombardo, Wiener Staatsoper, Bayerische Staatsoper, Opera National de Paris, Semperoper Dresden, Opera di Stuttgart, Teatro Maestranza di Siviglia, Teatro Petruzzelli Bari, Teatro Coccia Novara, Opernhaus Zürich, Opera de Versailles, Filarmonico di Verona, Teatro San Carlo Napoli and Teatro Regio Torino, Teatro Real de Madrid, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Opera de Lausanne, Israeli Opera, Hamburg Staatsoper, Opera di Roma, Filarmonico di Verona, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Seattle Opera, as well as Wexford Festival, Salzburg Festspiele, Bergen Festival, Luzern Festival, Beaune Festival, at the Auditorio de Madrid, Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia di Valencia, Lausanne, Bilbao, Montecarlo, Dortmunt, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Concergebaw in Amsterdam.
In 2021 made his Bolshoi Theatre debut as Belfiore in Il viaggio a Reims production.
