Владимир Арефьев


Vladimir Arefiev graduated from the Surikov Moscow State Institute of Arts in 1973 (teachers – V. Ryndin, M. Kurilko, M. Pozharskaya). From 1974 – 1985 he worked as stage designer at the Dnepropetrovsk Opera. Since 1992 Vladimir Arefiev has been a principal stage designer of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theater. In 1994 he joined the Moscow Operetta Theatre. He also works for the other Music and Drama theaters in Russia and abroad.

He designed more than 150 productions, amongst which are

In 2017 Vladimir Arefiev took part in the new production of Rimsky-Korsakov`s The Snow Maiden at the Bolshoi Theatre (directed by Alexander Titel, conducted by Tugan Sokhiev).

He has been teaching at the Moscow Art Theatre School-Studio since 2010.

The works of Vladimir Arefyev are in the collections of the. A.A. Bakhrushin State Central Theater Museum, Glinka Museum of Musical Culture in Moscow, P.I. Tchaikovsky House Museum in Klin and P.I. Tchaikovsky Museum-Estate in Votkinsk.
