Mikhail Lavrovsky

Born in Tbilisi to a family of ballet dancers. In 1961 graduated from the Moscow Academy of Choreography (class of Gleb Evdokimov).

In 1961-88 — was an artist with the ballet troupe of the Bolshoi Theatre.

In 1979 graduated the choreographic department of the State Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS).

Since 1987 — has been a ballet master-repetiteur of the ballet troupe of the Bolshoi Theatre.

In 1983-85 — was Artistic Director of the Paliashvili Opera and Ballet Theatre in Tbilisi.

In 2005-08 — was Artistic Director of the ballet troupe of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Music Theatre.

Since 2010 — has been Artistic Director of the Moscow Academy of Choreography.

In 1993 founded the Moscow Lavrovsky Academy of Choreography (it has been state owned since 2006) and remained it’s Artistic Director for a long time.

Since 2010 has participated in the realisation of projects by Lavrovsky Laboratory, founded by his son L. Lavrovsky-Garcia. Since 2016 has taught at the choreographic school-college, established within the Laboratory.
