In 1980, she completed her studies at the Tallin Conservatoire (now the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre) in piano. In 1986, graduated from the faculty of opera directing at the Rimsky-Korsakov Leningrad (now St Petersburg) State Conservatoire (specialising in music theatre directing). In 2000, she obtained a degree in Business management from Bramson ORT College/ the Organization for Educational Resources and Technological Training (New York, USA).

As an accompanist, she worked at the Heino Eller Tartu Music College (Estonia), the Tallin Conservatoire and Vanemuine Theatre (Tartu). As a director, she collaborated with theatres in Estonia, Ukraine, Russia, Slovakia, USA and Israel. Amongst the performances she staged are Dido and Aeneas by H. Purcell, Le Nozze di Figaro and Così fan tutte by W.A. Mozart, Don Pasquale by G. Donizetti, La Cenerentola by G. Rossini, La Traviata by G. Verdi, Tosca by G. Puccini, Faust by C. Gounod, Die Fledermaus by I. Strauss, Eugene Onegin and Iolanta by P. Tchaikovsky, and The Tsar’s Bride by N. Rimsky-Korsakov.

From 1987 to 2019, she taught at several institutions, as part of youth opera programmes and festivals in the USA and Europe, including the St Petersburg State Conservatoire and the Herzen State Pedagogical University (St Petersburg), the Boston Conservatory (USA), the Young Artists Program in Maine (Portland, USA), the International Opera Studio of the Berlin State Opera, the festival-laboratory New Opera World (Moscow) and the Elena Obraztsova International Vocal Mastery Workshop (St Petersburg).

For many years, she has represented Russia in juries of international vocal competitions, such as the Queen Sonja Competition (Oslo), the Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition (Vienna), the opera competition in Portofino (Italy), the Marcello Giordani Foundation Vocal Competition, the Opera Grand Prix (Bucharest), The George Enescu International Competition (Paris), the Veronica Dunn International Vocal Competition (Dublin), the Georg Ots Competition (St Petersburg) and the Sobinov Competition (Yaroslavl).

Between 2009 and 2016 – Director of the opera troupe of the Mikhailovsky Theatre in St Petersburg.

Since 2016 – has been Casting Director of the Bolshoi Theatre.
