Gevorg Hakobyan

Gevorg Hakobyan was born in Armenia. He studied at the Komitas State Conservatory in Yerevan with Maestro Sergey Danielyan. While still a student, he joined the Armenian State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre. In 2008, Gevorg was awarded both the Gold Medal and First Prize at the prestigious 1st International Pavel Lisitsian Baritone Competition in Moscow, In 2011 he was recognized as a Merited Artist of the Republic of Armenia. Hakobyan is an Associate Professor of the Vocal Department at Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory, he has been teaching classical vocal at the vocal-theoretical department since 2010.  

Gevorg has an ever-growing international reputation, performing regularly at multiple opera houses and theatres including the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Teatro Regio di Torino, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Teatro Real de Madrid, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Wiener Staatsoper, Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam, Staatsoper Stuttgart, Oper Frankfurt, Opéra de Lille, Mariinsky and Mikhailovsky Theatres, Armenian National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, Kiel Opera House. In addition, Gevorg performs frequently at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari, Palau de les Arts Valencia, Hong Kong Cultural Centre and the 'Stars of the White Nights' International Festival.

He made Bolshoi Theatre debut as Grigory Gryaznoi (The Tsar’s Bride), in 2017.
